DeSales senior Jonathan Thompson made it official today (12/15) and signed his National Letter of Intent with the University of Cincinnati. Thompson, who was a First Team All-Ohio linebacker as a junior, joins former Stallions Ty Van Fossen ‘18 (junior linebacker) and Luke Fickell ‘92 (Head Coach) in the Queen City.
A year removed from one of the best single season defensive performances in SFD history, Thompson broke his tibia and tore all of the ligaments on the inside of his ankle in a preseason game. Thompson played in the final three games on defense and recorded 16 tackles with six for a loss.
As a junior, Thompson led the Stallions in tackles for a loss (31.5) and sacks (9). He tied for a team-high in interceptions (5), pass breakups (5), and was second on the team with 690 rushing yards and six touchdowns. In addition to being named All-Ohio, Thompson was the Division-III Central District Defensive Player of the Year.
