Austin Addington-Strapp '04 - "Where Are They Now"
The 6th edition of the "Where Are They Now?" series in 2018 is Austin Addington-Strapp ‘04!
Austin was named Second Team All-Ohio as a senior on the 2003 Regional Finalists. He was a member of three Stallion teams that made Regional Championship game appearances, including his sophomore year, when he started at inside linebacker on the 2001 State Runner-up team.
These days, Austin serves as a Strength and Conditioning Football Coach at University of Pittsburgh.

Sanders, a senior defensive back for the Crusaders, made seven tackles, had two pass break-ups, and blocked an extra point in last Saturday’s (9/15) 44-40 loss to Heidelberg. For the season, the 6-foot-1, 190 pounder, has made 11 tackles in 3 games played for Capital. For his career, the former Stallion, has appeared in 23 games, recorded 99 tackles and intercepted 3 passes, to go along with 17 pass break-ups. Last season, Sanders earned Honorable Mention All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors after tallying 51 tackles and leading the team with 11 passes broken up.

The 5th edition of the "Where Are They Now?" series in 2018 is Jake Smith ‘09!
Smith was the starting center on two undefeated regular season DeSales teams (2007, 2008), including in 2008, when he was named First Team All-Ohio for the Regional Champions.

The Stallions improve to 3-1 after a 50-6 win against 2017 playoff team Dayton Belmont. Quarterback Reno Godfrey threw for three scores and rushed for another as Ryan Wiggins won his 100th game as Head Coach of his alma mater. Anthony Sciarroni (receiving) and Joey Velazquez (rushing) added two scores for the Purple and White. Dante Fuller also recovered a fumble for a touchdown and Owen Faulkner caught a 20-yard pass for a score.

The 4th edition of the "Where Are They Now?" series in 2018 is Mike Asbeck ‘86!
Asbeck was the starting quarterback on the 1985 State Championship Football team. Despite missing the first two games due to a knee injury, the senior quarterback helped lead the Stallions to their first state title after throwing for over 1,000 yards.
These days, Mike currently serves as the Director of Athletics at Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati, and here, he talks about his days at SFD…

David Cook - "Where are They Now?"
The 3rd edition of the "Where Are They Now?" series in 2018 is David Cook '99!
Cook was a running back on back-to-back state championship teams and totaled 2,553 yards rushing. After playing college baseball at Miami (OH), where he finished his career ranked in the top 10 in 11 categories in program history, he was a 9th round selection in the 2003 Major League Baseball Draft by the Chicago White Sox.

The Stallion Football team improved to 2-0 after a 32-22 win at Lancaster. Senior running back Joey Velazquez recorded his first career 100-yard rushing game, finishing with 136 yards and a touchdown.
Quarterback Reno Godfrey threw for three touchdowns and added a rushing score for a Stallion offense that totaled 496 yards of offense.
Robert Robinson had two interceptions, including the game-clinching pick in the fourth quarter.

The 2nd edition of the "Where Are They Now?" series in 2019 is Justin Thompson '08!
A two-year starter for the Stallions, Thompson continued his playing career at Kent State University, where he appeared in 38 career games for the Golden Flashes.

DeSales scored on the first play from scrimmage when Reno Godfrey found Anthony Sciarroni for a 67-yard strike and the Stallions never looked back. The Purple and White scored 21 first quarter points en route to a 35-0 win, for the Stallions' second straight season opening shutout.
Joey Velaquez, Jaylen Ball and Godfrey each had first half rushing touchdowns. Junior defensive back Owen Faulkner returned an interception 25 yards for his first career touchdown. The interception was part of four turnovers forced by the Purple and White.

The 2018 Night of Tradition is this Saturday, July 28
We are pleased to announce that this year’s Night of Tradition on July 28th will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of our 1998 Division III State Championship Team.
Tickets are $35 per person ($20 for 1998 players, $10 for current players). Admission price includes dinner and drinks.
The evening is open to anyone who has been a part of the football tradition: coaches, players, cheerleaders, parents, and fans!
Proceeds from the event will be used to refurbish and purchase equipment for the football program.

James Prater '15 named preseason All-American for Ashland University
Former Stallion linebacker James Prater '15 was recognized by Street & Smith as a preseason Division-II All-American for Ashland University.
Last season, Prater set an Ashland-record with 23.5 tackles for loss, resulting in 104 yards in losses; recorded 63 tackles (42 solos), 10 sacks, an interception, eight pass breakups, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble.
Entering his senior campaign, Prater has 31 career tackles for loss, fourth-most in Ashland history.

Tickets for the Varsity Football team's season opener are now available online! The Stallions open 2018 against Dayton Dunbar on Saturday, August 25 at 6PM at Huber Heights Wayne High School as part of the Backyard Blitz. The Stallions lead the all-time series against the Wolverines 4-2.

SFD senior Joey Velazquez verbally commits to the University of Michigan
St. Francis DeSales rising senior Joey Velazquez verbally committed to play baseball and football for the University of Michigan on June 22, 2018.
Last season on the gridiron, Velazquez tallied 53 tackles on defense, and on offense, was second on the team in touchdowns (8), all-purpose yards (643), rushing yards (356). As a junior for the Stallion Baseball team, Joey set a school record with a .545 batting average and was named the Ohio Division-II Player of the Year.

Come spend a week with the coaching staff and players of St. Francis DeSales. Campers will be instructed on basic fundamentals of offense, defense, and special teams by position. "Heads up tackling" and other safety techniques will be emphasized. They will also participate in games, competitions, as well as a Stallion Football league. Attendees will receive a SFD Football highlight video, a t-shirt, and a Rib Dinner! Come join the finest football camp experience in Central Ohio.

Congratulations to Cullen Krombach (University of Dayton) and Cole Silvestri (Furman University)!
As a three-year letter-winner, Krombach played on both offensive and defensive lines during his career at DeSales. As a senior, he was recognized as Special Mention All-District, making 10 starts on the offensive line and five starts on defensive line. On defense, Krombach recorded 19 tackles and three sacks.

Cole Silvestri '18
Silvestri finished his career with 1,922 passing yards and 19 touchdowns. As a junior, he helped lead the Stallions to a Regional Championship and a 13-1 record in 2016. That season, DeSales set aschool-record for most points scored in a single season with 588 (42.0 per game). Silvestri also accounted for 512 career rushing yards and 13 touchdowns.
Under Head Coach Ryan Wiggins, St. Francis DeSales has had 35 players compete collegiately at the Division-I FBS / FCS level, prior to the class of 2018. For the complete list of players, click here!
Good luck to SFD Alumnus Patrick Omameh '08 in today's AFC Championship Game!
St. Francis DeSales High School will be represented today (1/21) in the AFC Championship game as 2008 alumnus Patrick Omameh is the starting left guard for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Omameh is set to become the first Stallion to participate in an NFL Conference Championship Game when the Jaguars play the New England Patriots on CBS at 3:05 PM. Go Jaguars!
