James Prater, a sophomore defensive lineman had a career day in his Ashland's 63-6 win over Lake Erie last Saturday (10/15). The 6-0, 269 pounder recorded a career-high 6 tackles, had a sack and recovered his first fumble as an Eagle.
Last year, the former Stallion appeared in four games and made four tackles with a sack for Ashland, who finished the regular season undefeated before losing to Grand Valley State in the NCAA tournament.
While at DeSales, James played both ways for the Stallions, but primarily served as a Linebacker as a senior in 2014. As part of the Regional Runner-up team his final year as a Stallion, Prater was second on the time with 90 tackles. From his linebacker position, he also finished second with 12 tackles for a loss for the CCL Silver Division Champions.
